During this unit we had to produce our own Idents that would best represent the values and beliefs of the college. We had to make an Ident that if good enough could be worthy of advertising the college.
At the initial stage, we had to choose a pair in which we'd work on the final project with. I chose Pierre. After this we started to brainstorm different type of animations that we could us in order to make this project effective. We researched Pixelation, Cut out, and Stop Motion animation. At the end we chose to concentrate on Pixelation as the examples of this type animations intrigued us more so than the others. Having decided what type of animation we were to use, we had to conjure up three different ideas of what our Ident would involve. These were to include; narrative, colours, music, logo and slogan. Once all the pre-production work had been completed, we made a start on the production stage.
I must admit, the filming stage was the most tedious thing I have done in while. It took us over the course of separate lessons to film the entire footage. It was difficult also as the technicians we're every unreliable during this project. After overcoming the complications with the technicians we, we managed to film the Ident the best we could. We wanted to be as creative as possible with the pixelation, so we took shots of Pierre jumping up in the air in different key frames so that when edited together it would look as though he was flying to college. We also tried to make it humorous by adding Naomi who was to follow him the entire route to college without him noticing, I feel that this worked well together and it made the film stage a lot more tolerable as it meant we could think of more ways to improve with Ident with the creativity.
The editing process was fairly simply. As always we used final cut pro to edit the footage and added audio to the finish edit. We literally let the shots that we took work for themselves.
The feedback we received from everyone has been mainly positive. The only criticism that was given was that the Ident was a little too long and after while the viewers may start to lose interest before the logo is even introduced. So because of this, one thing that will be done differently is us keeping in time with the normal time scale of an Ident, that being 30 secs.

Oi Oi sexies. Especially you, yes you! And welcome to my video profile.
|
Low Shot of me croaching
down talking to the camera. Then a
zoom into my face as I say ‘especially you, yes you!’
|
I know you’re dying to find out a little bit
more about me, so here goes. Hope you all have a piece of paper and pen,
because you should be taking notes.
|
Shot of my feet.
Camera will then pan up slowly until in a medium shot of my face and
shoulders.
|
Audio recording: I’m just an ordinary girl.
Very down to earth. I’d say I was very influential. Weather that being a good
thing or not, I’ll leave down to you. Most people love me; you’d be an idiot
not too to be honest. They say I’m cocky, but I disagree.
|
Zoom out until long
shot of full body.
Speed walk (effect,
fast forward) to next destination
|
Don’t fall down. This is the library! Ok, back to me, back to me. I spend no time
there.
Audio of B.O.B’s Magic playing in the
background.
|
Image slows done
when speed walking down the stairs and advice my camera man to not ‘fall over’.
As I walk down in a high angle shot of my back. An extreme close up of my
face as I say ‘This is the library! Ok,
back to me, back to me. I spend no time there.’
|
Right we’re right outside the theatre.
(whispers) We have to be extra quite as press conference is being held here.
Let’s have a little sneak peak.
|
Image on screen
slowing down, when I arrive outside the theatre. (Motions the camera to come
closer. As this is being done the camera zooms into a close up of the face. Door of theatre opens and image blacks out.

PRESS CONFERENCE SCENE
Hello. Hi, I’m from Young Inspirations and I just wondered how you are going about
promoting yourself within the media industry?
|
Medium shot, of the
‘audience’ member asking the question.
|
Well right now, I’m at college studying
media, which is really exciting. I also have an online radio show called ‘We
talk too much’ where every week I have different guests. Just last week I had
Daniel Casey, who is an inspiring director.
|
Over shoulder close
up shot, of me talking. And close up of me in profile.
|
I’m from the BBC Apprentice. You said
previously that you wanted to go into Journalism, but what particular type of
journalism do you want to go into?
|
Medium close up of
the ‘audience’ member asking the question
|
I’ve always been a big fan of broadcasting
Journalism. So I’d love to go into something like that. If not TV presenting
then Radio. I’m in love with either concept. If I’m lucky, I’d be grateful to
have my own show, such as Jonathan Ross.
|
Medium long shot of
me talking directly to the ‘audience member’.
|
Hello. I’m just a student at CWC
and my question is; in about 5 years time, where do you hope to see yourself?
|
Medium close up of face as the question is being asked
|
Thinking about it logically, I
hope to see myself at University. Hopefully De Monfort or Birmingham City,
studying Media and broadcasting journalism.
|
Long shot of side profile of my face as I answer the question.
Picture of the universities logo to appear on screen on after the other.
|
Hi. I’m a student from NJU (National
Journalism Union.) I just wanted to know, you say you want to be a
Journalist, but are there anyone around right now; that you’d say inspires
you to want to do that?
|
Medium shot, of ‘me’ sitting on the chair, then zoom into close up.
|
Johnny Vaughn. I absolutely love
him. He’s a radio DJ for Capital FM. I listen to him every single morning and
he makes laugh my arse off…I’m I allowed to say that? Ok. Arse off. (Laughs)Yeah,
he’s just the funniest guy ever.
|
Extreme long shout of whole body from other side of the room. When
asking if ‘Arse’ is allowed to be said, look straight into the camera. Image
of Johnny doing what he does best.
|
Thank so much guys for watching
my video profile, Especially you…(Laughs)
|
‘Take One’ comes on screen in white writing to suggest that outtakes
are going to be seen.
Medium shot of my face as I’m holding the microphone in my hand. This is happens up to three times with the
amount of takes written.
