Legal and Ethical

What does ‘copyright,’ mean?

This a legal right that one has over their document, this being an author composer, playwright, publisher, musical, dramatic, artistic and more. It’s a right granted by the state of law to that individual that protects them from getting their creation stolen or adapted.

Give three examples of different things, which you might include in your video and could be subject to copyright:

1: Picture of University I’d like to go to.
2: Pictures of Johnny Vaughn in the capital recording studio
3: Song on the footage

List two websites that give copyright free music:
2: www. Mp3skull.com

List a website where you can find free or low fee photographs:

Explain what a location release form and why is it needed for filming?

This is an agreement between the person in charge of the property/location and the person wanting to use this. It is important, as a location cannot be used unless it has been given permission for. It also protects the owner, as in it ensures that they are compensated for if anything is to get damaged.

What is a contributor release form and why is it required?

This is permit that must be obtained for ones film/music video/production to be released. Without it, it will not be published. One is also very unlikely to be authorised to enter the Film National Competition without the contributor release form.

User Generated Video 2

This is my second User Generated Video, from two very amusing elderly couple.
In this video, they are trying to work a web cam, which they think, is not working. Much to their  surprise, it have been all the entire time and captured footage of them that they'd probably not want on the internet, such as the man saying 'if you drop your top a little bit, they can see you boob'. That part particularly made me laugh.

The media platform used is just the internet, however with 8,641,611 views alone, they are a hit.
what sells this video, is their innocence. It's very cute, endearing and captivating to watch. Evidently, they are a couple that love each other very much, even though they've obviously been together for so long.
Again, like the first video, I feel that the target audience for this clip is board. It relates to anyone that everyone, apart from very young children.
Considering it's amateur form, the video is well presented. The editing is easily understandable.

User Generated Video 1

This is video has hit the nation by storm. With 380,551,583 views, its pretty evident that it has been very popular.

The video, sees a pair of brothers on an ordinary day, which is about to take a turn for the worst...When charlie, bits his big brother. I feel that this video has been popular due to the elder's brothers reaction to charlie biting his finger. Although a normal unprofessional production initially, it has been used by many people and been turned into different things. My favorite, is the video above. It's a remix of the original and I think it's absolutely amazing.

The media platform that it uses, is that of internet (youtube) and music (mp3). People can now download this remix as a file in mp3 format.

I feel the target audience is universal, for the simple reasons such as it appeals to everyone. People with children, will chuckle at this video, as they may be able to relate to it as they'll have children of their own.
I feel that the editing in the video, baring the fact that it is a user generated video into consideration; it's very well done. The video is clear to understand and the sound is hearable.

Oi Oi sexies. Especially you, yes you!  And welcome to my video profile.
MLS of me bending down talking. Then a zoom into my face as I say ‘especially you, yes you!’
I know you’re dying to find out a little bit more about me, so here goes. Hope you all have a piece of paper and pen, because you should be taking notes.
pan up to my face unto a medium close up and gesture with hands.
Audio recording: I’m just an ordinary girl. Very down to earth. I’d say I was very influential. Weather that being a good thing or not, I’ll leave down to you. Most people love me; you’d be an idiot not too to be honest. They say I’m cocky, but I disagree.
Zoom out until long shot of full body.
Speed walk (effect, fast forward) to next destination
Right we’re right outside the theatre. (whispers) We have to be extra quite as press conference is being held here. Let’s have a little sneak peak.
Image on screen slowing down, when I arrive outside the theatre. (Motions the camera to come closer. As this is being done the camera zooms into a close up of the face.  Door of theatre opens and image blacks out.
PRESS CONFERENCE SCENE
Hello. Hi, I’m from Young Inspirations and I just wondered how you are going about promoting yourself within the media industry?
Medium shot, of the ‘audience’ member asking the question.
Well right now, I’m at college studying media, which is really exciting. I also have an online radio show called ‘We talk too much’ where every week I have different guests. Just last week I had Daniel Casey, who is an inspiring director.
Over shoulder close up shot, of me talking. And close up of me in profile.
I’m from the BBC Apprentice. You said previously that you wanted to go into Journalism, but what particular type of journalism do you want to go into?
Medium close up of the ‘audience’ member asking the question
I’ve always been a big fan of broadcasting Journalism. So I’d love to go into something like that. If not TV presenting then Radio. I’m in love with either concept. If I’m lucky, I’d be grateful to have my own show, such as Jonathan Ross.
Medium long shot of me talking directly to the ‘audience member’.
Hello. I’m just a student at CWC and my question is; in about 5 years time, where do you hope to see yourself?
Medium close up of face as the question is being asked
Thinking about it logically, I hope to see myself at University. Hopefully De Monfort or Birmingham City, studying Media and broadcasting journalism.
Long shot of side profile of my face as I answer the question. Picture of the universities logo to appear on screen on after the other.
Hi. I’m a student from NJU (national Journalism Union. I just wanted to know, you say you want to be a Journalist, but are there anyone around right now; that you’d say inspires you to want to do that?
Medium shot, of ‘me’ sitting on the chair, then zoom into close up.
Johnny Vaughn. I absolutely love him. He’s a radio DJ for Capital FM. I listen to him every single morning and he makes laugh my arse off…I’m I allowed to say that? Ok. Arse off. Yeah, he’s just the funniest guy ever.
Extreme long shout of whole body from other side of the room. When asking if ‘Arse’ is allowed to be said, look straight into the camera. Image of  Johnny doing what he does best.
I hear that girl in there is going places. (Laugh) Right, let lets check out that online radio show then shall we. Let see good it really is. This is me on my show ‘We Talk Too Much’ hope you like it.
Medium close up of face and hand standing outside the theatre. Camera panning then zoom out into long shot. Effect on screen to show transition into radio interview.
On screen: ‘We Talk Too Much”
Hello, and welcome to my own show called ‘We Talk Too Much’. In attempt to promote myself as an inspiring Journalist, I have decided to interview Daniel Casey. He has just created, produced and directed a short film called ‘My Video Profile’ In his film he demonstrates he’s passion for horror films, and scares the audience with it. With scenes from classic films such as Insidious, The fourth kind and plenty more, this short by terrifying film, has proved to be a hit.
Wide side of me sitting on the chair, with a microphone in my hand, and headphones on around my ears.
Ruth: Afternoon Daniel and welcome to the show.
Daniel: Thank you for having me, I’ve heard great things.
Ruth: Thank you. You’re too kind. Let’s get straight to the point. Your film; I absolutely love by the way, but what made you come up with such a storyline?
Over the shoulder shot from Daniel to me, however, in a medium close up.
Daniel: I’ve always enjoyed watching horror films, so I wanted to see if I was capable of creating something that’s half as good as the movies I’ve been fortunate to watch.
Ruth: I see. So what is it about horror films that say… ‘Floats your boat’ then? And would you say you’re like a macho man then (laughs)
Daniel: (Laughs) I do get scared. I’m not going to sit here and deny that. But for me it’s all about the scare factor. I feel that a good horror film, should keep you on the edge of  your seat.
Wide shot of Daniel and I sitting down opposite each other. Microphone coming back and forth between us. Close up on Daniel’s face when answer some questions put to him
Ruth: That’s very interesting. Talk me through you chosen scenery. Its every unusual, wouldn’t you say?
Daniel: I wanted to replicate in my film some of the wonderful things that I had seen in some of my favorite movies. Being able to incorporate, a graveyard scene like that of Friday the 13th was amazing.
Ruth: Which director would you say has inspired you the most and why?
Daniel: Steven Spielberg. Some of his films have been my favorites like, E.T.
Ruth: So what’s the next project on the cards for you then?
Daniel: Well, right now; if I’m honest with you, I have nothing planned. However, I do know whatever it is; it’s going to be better than this.

Wide shot of Daniel and I on screen. Pan shot of just Daniel talking, and then back to me. Medium shot of both of us. Zoom out in a long shot , and finally close up of me.
Ruth: finally, where would you like to see yourself in 10 years time:
Daniel: I see myself writing and directing more amazing films. Having some top names acting in my productions and having my films being watched in the cinemas. How’s that for ambitious aye? (Laughs)
Over the shoulder shot, from Daniel to me . Over the shoulder, close up shot of Daniel answering and finally close u of Daniel,
